What is a vacuum bell?

The vacuum bell consists of medical equipment located on the chest for the treatment of Pectus backavatum. Pectus Excentum is a place where the chest becomes a concave appearance because of the sinking, which is also described as the "chest of the funnel". The use of a vacuum bell causes the chest to be sucked outwards, lifts the thoracic wall and reduces the concave in the middle of the chest.

The bell works by attaching the suction cup to the chest and using a hand pump to dig air from the inside of the bell. Different sizes are used for different ages and chest sizes, although the average size usually ranges from 6.3 to 7.87 inches (16 to 26 cm). The patient operates a hand pump to draw enough air from the bell to create a vacuum that can be as large as 15 percent below the atmospheric level of 14.696 PSI or about 12.49 PSI.

thoracic defects have been described by hippocrates that have noticed koStanded projection in the middle of the chest, which resembled chicken breast and caused difficulty breathing. The concave deformity of the chest was also described in 1954 by Johannes Schenk and it is now known to be a common defect of the chest wall and affects about five times as many men as women. The defects of the thoracic wall were first reported as treated with a vacuum bell in Munich, Germany in 1910, as part of a non -surgical medical treatment for lifting the thoracic wall from the chest.

pediatrics documented a certain degree of chest defect in approximately 85 percent of newborns. Many of the more serious types have been corrected by the chest surgery since the ravaval procedure was developed in 1952. In the age of 90.

Using Vacuum Bell to treat chest defects was compared with orthodontic treatment that may take up toTwo years to achieve permanent results. Immediate effects can be seen after application of the bell, for example in clinical trials where sternum and ribs will increase immediately after the bell application. However, the chest cartilage in new formations can reach up to two or three years.

The bell is most effective for less severe chest defects. It has been found to bring good results for many individuals when used for at least 30 minutes at least twice a day at a time, with ideal use of about 1.5 hours a day. In clinically, many people showed a significant permanent improvement in the chest structure after five to nine months.

Vacuum bell is popular in Europe where it can be purchased from the Internet. Persons who used a bell at medical clinics expressed their satisfaction and promised to continue to use it if it was needed. Some pain and reddish skin were reported at the first use of the bell because of the strong suction that it can produce. But the pain was notVain and was reduced with continued use. The amount of suction can also be controlled by a person using a device.

The device is not recommended for use in young children due to their more fragile chest and cartilage bones. Adolescents generally as the use of the bell, as well as many adults. The age of those who use devices ranges from approximately 10 to 50.
