What is Vicryl Suture?

Suture Vicryl ™ is a synthetic, absorbable stitch. It is usually used for wounds or slices in the tissues of inner bodies, where the removal of traditional stitches would be disturbing. In fact, Vicryl ™ is a brand of material for sewing produced by Ethicon Inc., a subsidiary of Johnson and Johnson, but the term took place normally to describe any synthetic, absorbable stitch composed mainly of polyglycolic acid. Surface injuries, such as cuts, are often closed by stitches known as stitches. Suture Vicryl ™ serves the same purposes as traditional stitches: keep the cut closed until it can be healed. Unlike the stitches, however, absorbable stitches will be divided by natural processes of the body over time and may not be removed. As a result, it is ideal for sewing the inner layers of tissue that are cut during surgical procedure by deep injuries. Suture Vicryl ™ has replaced this material as the most commonly used absorbable stitch. In contrast to Catgut it is synthetic, whichIt means that it is produced in the laboratory and not naturally occurring.

Vicryl ™ -Type sutures have a number of advantages. They are made of knitted material that make them very strong and allows surgeons to use them in tissues that do not remain at rest during recovery, such as organ tissues. They also contain an antibacterial component that helps prevent infection of the wound or cut site.

In the body is polyglycolic acid, the main component of sewing Vicryl ™, divided by a process known as hydrolysis. It is a chemical process that causes the molecules of substances such as polyglycolic acid to decompose added water molecules. In most cases, the body breaks Suture Vicryl ™ for about three weeks to 60 days and leaves no foreign matter.
