What Is an Ethmoidectomy?
Ethmoid sinus lesions often affect the maxillary sinus, orbit, and frontal sinus. Different approaches should be adopted according to different situations. If the maxillary sinus is involved, the ethmoid sinus can be taken after the maxillary sinus resection. Surgery, this operation is easy to observe the scope of the lesion, and can completely remove the ethmoid sinus and the surrounding tissue. If the lesion only affects the anterior ethmoid sinus, intranasal ethmoid sinus resection can be performed. Swelling of the palate may occur after surgery, and it may resolve within a few days after surgery. The main complications include bleeding, intraorbital bleeding, or intracranial infection. Occasionally, the orbital periosteum is damaged during surgery, causing blindness of the optic nerve.
