What is an implantable lens?

Implantable lens is a type of contact lens, which is usually permanently implanted in the eye to correct myopic or short -sighted vision. Two types of implantable lenses are approved for use in the United States and Europe. The implant procedure usually varies slightly for each type of implanted lens. Fully recovery from permanent contact lenses may take up to a month, although most patients are able to restore their normal activities the next day. Complications may include separate retina, infection and cataracts. Implant contact lenses can ensure permanent vision correction to those who are not eligible for lasik surgery.

It usually takes anywhere from six to 15 minutes to implant flax into the patient's eye. For both eyes, the procedure usually takes about half an hour. The lenses are usually implanted by small cuts on the surface of the eye. Two types that are currently used by implantable lenses are usually inserted either just around the cornea or by the iris of the eye.

The

Visian ICL® lenses are usually implanted just below the cornea and are usually visible to the naked eye at a close check. Shirts are generally required to help maintain this type of implant during recovery. Veisyse lenses are usually inserted behind the iris of the eye, where it is usually not seen without the help of a microscope and stitches are not usually necessary to maintain these implants during recovery.

Most patients experience better vision once implanted lenses are introduced. Complete recovery may take up to a month and most patients are a bangologist. The most common side effect is probably a sense of itching, scratches or discomfort in the eye. Most patients experience a sufficient improvement in vision to allow driving and further everyday activities without using further vision correction.

Complications of this procedure may include inflammation, irritation and eye infection. Can occurto the retina separation and can be created cataracts. There may also be a loss of endothelial cells on the inside of the cornea. The complication rate is usually lower for the Verisys® lens implantable than the Visian ICL®.
