What is body memory?

Body memory is a term used in alternative medicine, where it is assumed that the body is stored by memories related to past trauma or stress. Also referred to as cellular memory, those who believe in this phenomenon often believe that such memories are suppressed and awakened only when the body is located in circumstances similar to the original traumatic event. Some believe that the victims of sexual abuse and individuals affected by post -traumatic stress syndrome are most likely to experience body memory.

Scientists continue to study human memory and different ways in which it is processed. As it was found to be in the case of false memory syndrome, where events that have never actually occurred are set in the mind of man through a hypnotic design, many do not consider the body's memory as a valid type of memory.
