What is Karbogen?

Carbogen is a gas composed of carbon dioxide and oxygen. It is also known as Meduna's mixture, with reference to the inventor of the gas, Ladislas Meduna. Karbogen was first composed of 70 percent oxygen and 30 percent of carbon dioxide. The percentage of each gas in the mixture is now more diverse.

Gas inhalation gives the individual a sense of loss of control over breathing and cannot take oxygen. Inhaled by a mask attached to the face and tube leading to the gas cylinder. The gas has traditionally been used to help the doctor to determine how well the patient manages the loss of control, and so would handle certain types of psychotherapeutic drugs.

The two gases in the carbogen provide a contradictory effect on the body. Increasing carbon dioxide levels usually means that oxygen levels have decreased. This causes increased heart rate, the release of cells removes carbon and faster and deeper breathing. However, other oxygen is based on the deficit, however, the body accidentally registered.

Carbogen inhalation can cause different effects depending on the patient's response. Some individuals only experience panic and feel that they are dying of suffocation. In some cases, anxiety may be so intense that the patient will not be able to proceed several times for inhalation of gas. Other individuals reported an increased feeling of well -being, widespread consciousness and even living visual hallucinations. Some other patients reported that they had experienced panic and euphoria at the same extent or felt peaceful for early feelings of panic and anxiety.

Meduna promoted the use of carbogen in psychedelic psychotherapy and psychology. In addition to determining the safety of further medicinal therapy, gas inhalation could also provide a state of changed consciousness that was useful in itself. Process reportedly allowed some patients to solve the problems blocking the mind, such as suppressed memories. The therapeutic use of carbogen has declined along with interest in psychotherapeutics.

Carbogen with NynIt is commonly used for physical medical treatment. Inhalation can be useful in the early stages of the central retinal artery. It was also proposed that using nicotinamide and radiation therapy could help the gas to treat some types of cancer. This is because high oxygen levels applied to tumors can increase the effects of radiation when killing cancer cells.
