What is choline fenofibrate?

choline fenofibrate is an active ingredient in the drug cholesterol known in general as fenophiblic acid, which is sold under the Trilipix® and Fibricor® brands. This drug is generally used to treat high LDL cholesterol as a support for lifestyle changes to reduce triglycerides and increase the amount of HDL cholesterol. It is usually prescribed in conjunction with statin drugs such as Lipitor®, Crestor® and Zocor®.

This medicine is used to reduce blood fatty acid levels, which, if uncontrollable, could increase the risk of atherosclerosis. Doctors generally recommend using choline fenofibrate as a way to supplement lifestyle changes, such as low fat diet, frequent exercise and smoking cessation. People who use choline fenofibrate should not drink alcohol due to increased risk of liver damage.

Trilipix® or Fibricor® is contraindicated for certain types of people. They would not be used by pregnant or breastfed women. People with a hypotoReose, diabetes or kidney, gallbladder or liver diseases may not be good candidates for this medicine. The possibility of mild to serious side effects may be larger in older adults. The serious side effects of this drug may include fever, chest pain, darkened urine, vomiting, fatigue or unusual bruises.

It is also known that this drug has possible negative drug interactions with various prescription drugs and over -the -counter medicines. These include certain antibiotics, beta blockers, antifungals, seizure control, antidepressants, cyclosporin and diuretics. It also includes medicines to replace hormones and contraception based on hormones. Blood thinning drugs such as warfarin or ibuprofen may also have dangerous interactions with choline fenofibrate.

When using choline fenofibrate to improve cholesterol, it is important to maintain certain diet restrictions such as not eating high fat content. This medicine can be used with food or on an empty stomach. It should be taken with a full glass of water. Cholin fenofibrate must not be used within four hours of some other prescription drugs, including cholestyramine (Questran®), colesevelam (Welchol®) or Colestipol (Colesta® brand). In general, there is no problem to take choline phenomena simultaneously with statin drugs.

The maximum dose of this drug, which is offered in the capsule delayed, is 135 mg per day. The individual dose will depend on the patient's overall health conditions. This medicine should be stored in a dry place far from heat sources as well as from children.
