What is Moxibus acupuncture?

Acupuncture

Moxibustion is the practice of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), in which the burned Moxa or Mugwort is used in conjunction with acupuncture needles to stimulate acupuncture points of the body. The practice of moxibus, which may or may not be used with acupuncture needles, is old and some believe it may even prevent the use of acupuncture. The acupuncture seeks to stimulate the flow of Qi or vital energy and to balance the Qi and the additional forces of Jin and Yang in the body. He claims to promote general health and well -being and also solve specific health problems. In a direct moxibus, older practice, Mugwort is burned directly at the acupuncture point, either until full burning or until the burning part reaches the skin. The former method is called the scarring of moxibuction and can produce pain and scars. Mugwort can also be burned on top of ginger slices to protect the skin from scarring. In the moxibus acupuncture, the needle is inserted into the acupuncture point and Moxa is burned at the tip. The needle makes heat to the acupuncture point butIt is not directly burning on the skin.

Mugwort is traditionally used for patients suffering from cold or moisture and stimulates blood flow to the pelvic area and uterus. Mugwort has a long history of therapeutic use in Europe, America and other Asian countries outside China. Moxibus acupuncture can be useful for menstrual convulsions and has been used to reverse the direction of the final children, allowing natural delivery. A study presented in the Journal of American Medical Association in 1998 found that Moxibution was effective in changing the direction of the child in up to 75% of women with closing children.

When mugwort burns, it gives a lot of pungent smoke that may be unpleasant for some patients, especially patients with respiratory problems. Now, however, the smokeless Moxa sticks are available. Moxibus acupuncture should not be used in patients diagnosed with too much heat according to TCM because it is traditionalClear for patients with too much cold.
