What is the Best Spider Vein Treatment?

Spider angioma is an idiopathic telangiectasia, formed by the expansion of the small branches of the skin arterioles. The mole body has a central point and is surrounded by small radial blood vessels branching like a spider, so it is called a spider mole. Prone to occur in the area of the superior vena cava distribution, such as the face, neck, upper chest, shoulders and upper limbs. Can be seen in patients with liver disease such as cirrhosis, acute hepatitis, but also in healthy people, such as children, pregnant women and other populations.

Causes of spider moles

The occurrence of this disease may be related to increased estrogen levels. Chronic liver disease patients and some healthy pregnant women who have been detected with obvious spider nevus have blood estrogen several dozen times higher than normal people. Acute hepatitis, chronic hepatitis, cirrhosis and other diseases lead to liver function damage, the liver's inactivation of estrogen is reduced, resulting in an increase in estrogen in the blood, especially 17- estradiol and estrone, which cause arterial capillary Vasodilation. Can also be found in rheumatism, rheumatoid arthritis, Cushing's syndrome and so on. But the appearance of spider moles on the skin is not always a disease sign. About 10% to 15% of normal people can also have spider moles. For example, children aged 6 to 10 and young women, especially pregnant women, have spider moles. About 40% of healthy pregnant women have spider moles. The cause of spider moles in children may be caused by elevated estrogen levels during development.

Clinical manifestations of spider moles

Spider moles vary in size. The larger ones can reach 1.5 cm in diameter. They consist of a central arteriole and many capillaries that radiate outwards. The central mole body bulges the skin surface and the outwardly extending capillaries are called spider feet ( Pseudopodium). When the central point is compressed, the entire vascular mole can disappear, and when the compression is removed, it can be seen that the blood fills from the center outward. Occurs above the torso, especially in the face, neck, and hands. It can also occur in trauma. Often unilateral, single shots, but also multiple shots. Multiple patients should be suspected of having liver disease. Similar damage can occur on the lips and nasal mucosa.

Spider mole check

Pulsing can be seen on the slide, and the capillaries around the mole are dilated and visible in the naked eye.
Those with suspected liver disease should be examined for liver function, serum protein, and B-mode ultrasound.

Spider mole diagnosis

It is easy to diagnose based on the typical morphology of lesions and pulsating blood vessels in the center. Should be distinguished from vascular nevus.

Spider Mole Treatment

Most spider moles that occur during pregnancy resolve on their own within 6 weeks after delivery and do not require special treatment. Spider moles caused by liver damage are mainly used to treat primary diseases. Spider moles that occur on the face are often aesthetically inconvenient, and patients often require treatment.
Physical therapy
It can be cured by applying high frequency electrocautery, diathermy method or carbon dioxide laser, YAG-laser or microwave therapy instrument to destroy the central blood vessel.
2. Surgical treatment
For those who still relapse after multiple treatments, local resection is feasible.

Spider mole prognosis

Most of the damage that occurs during pregnancy resolves spontaneously within 6 weeks after delivery and also persists. Most children's damage persists, and a few can subside on their own.
