What is Yarrow?

yarrow, or Achillea milfolium is a herb long used in herbal medicine. It is a flowering plant that grows wild in Europe and Asia and has been transplanted to America. Yarrow has long been used in fever cases because it promotes sweating that the body can cool and help remove waste products through the skin. Yarrow was once a popular ingredient in salads. It has a sweet, pungent or astringent taste that adds piquancing to the Blalander Greens.

Yarrow for therapeutic purposes is collected when it is in flower and dried for storage. All parts of the plant are used. Yarrow tea is a traditional remedy for the last phases of the cold. The herb causes expansion of capillaries. This increases blood circulation and is therefore often used for circulatory problems.

For external applications, Yarrow has long been used to speed up healing. It has an astringent or cleaning, effect and is antimicrobial , which provides protection against infection. Legend says Yarrow was Achillesused to give the wounds of soldiers under his command. It seems to have antibiotics.

Yarrow was also used for digestive complaints, urine problems or menstrual irregularities. Ointment or astringent washing with preparation is good for skin rashes such as eczema and can soothe and relieve varicose veins.

Unusual use of preparation is in traditional and ching . More modern i ching includes throwing three coins to calculate hexagrams that will be read to determine the answers to your questions. The use of bars made of Yarrow, yarrowsticks is a much more authentic method.

If you want to use sticks for preparation, grab an unknown number of sticks from a pile of fifty. These are sorted into groups of four.
