Are there two -headed snakes?

There are snakes of two heads, but they are rare. In fact, these snakes are connected by twins or sometimes a fully created individual with a parasitic twins, which consists only of the head. Although they are rare, they are more common than other animals with two heads and are sometimes exhibited at the zoo or at animal passenger exhibitions. Some museums have preserved specimens of double -headed snakes.

Snakes with two heads do not have a long life expectancy, especially in the wild. Each head has a brain and usually some control over a shared body and both cannot communicate with each other. Movement is therefore difficult because each head can try to travel in a different direction and in the worst case the heads can fight or try to eat each other.

Some double -headed snakes share the stomach while others have a stomach for each head. In one, one of the heads can die if it normally loses the fight for food. Although tame is only one stomach, the snake may not be able to capture the spicest if heads compete for food.

Despite these difficulties, it is known that some snakes of two heads have lived up to 20 years in captivity. Thelma and Louise, a double -headed snake who lived in a zoo in San Diego, California, had 15 descendants during his life. Scientists theorized that inbreeding snakes for zoo and pets can lead to an increased occurrence of snakes with two heads, but it is very difficult, not if impossible, to verify, because it would mean how often these snakes are born in the wild. The fact that they would not live for too long is the task is even more daunting.

in 2000, a double -headed snake called we earned an offer of $ 150,000 USD (USD) on eBay, but the policy of the site against auction of live animals prevented selling. Instead, Nutra Pharma Corporationhad accepted in 2006 to help study the pharmacological benefits of the Hadsky poison.
