What are beer steins?

Beer Stein is a mug on the lid that holds beer. The mug handle contains a small curtain that opens the lid when pressing the thumb. This allows the Stein beer to open the lid with the same hand that holds the mug, but to close it when it doesn't drink. Modern Stein beer can be made in many different materials such as metals, ceramics or glass. Stein beer can also have numerous carvings and many collect German beer steins, as designs can show an interesting scattering. Initially, beer stein was produced for sanitary purposes. In the 14th century, parts of Germany were plagued by flies that would fall into open beer and drowned easily. Since no one wanted to drink beer with this unintended additional component, the craftsman tried to design a cup that would only be open when the drinker used it.

There was also fear that Mor Bubonic would return and the next way to destroying all of Europe would start. As a result, local officials and leaders in Germany have eagerly adopt the laws that would keep people insafety. As a result, many areas of Germany have indeed adopted laws that require individual and shared beer glasses to have a lid.

In 1500s, many times only tankard beer was only shared, and these shared beer steins were usually made of wood or stoneware that tended to rot or break after multiple uses. These materials also set out for musty beer. Several people owned ceramic beer steins, but they were expensive. In fact, you were considered to be rich if you owned your own Stein beer. Fortunately, the 16th century brought to the forefront of tin, which resulted in most of the beer steins that were made in the tin.

As new materials appeared, Steins beer has become more and more sophisticated. They could have carving, patterns and etching. Popular styles were ceramic Blue glaze and many had reliefs or carving of drinks or more modern events. The Stein beer has basically become art and many have become collecting objects. Most of the beer collectors are Americans today, and as with many things in demand, Stein beer is not only in Germany not only in Germany. Some variants are made in factories in South America, reflecting global trends in outsourcing.

You can buy beer in many different styles. Some have Christmas scenes, depict cities, refer to a specific war, or can be engraved or adapted to users. Many of them are very modern. Collectible beer steins can be found in antique shops and eBay. It may be a bit difficult to know the difference between the original and reproduction, because many reproductions were performed when the popularity of beer grew at the age of 60. It is best to work with a renowned antique dealer if you are looking for a rare, early Stein beer.
