What are artificial tiles?

Faux tiles are materials for interior decoration that come in a number of forms. These products, also known as false or artificial tiles, are usually made of low -cost, lightweight materials such as vinyl, but are designed to imitate the appearance of other materials such as stone, wood or metal. Faux tiles are available to install ceiling, walls and floors. In some cases, artificial tiles are not separate building materials at all, but formed with color on any surface. This application is commonly found in kitchens where the backsplash tiles can be painted on the walls behind the boards. Some artificial sheet metal tiles are plastic with metal color, while others that are more expensive are thin leaves of real metal. Faux ceiling tiles can be nailed directly on the existing ceiling or installed in a grid that hangs just below the old ceiling. The second type of installation is known as a suspended ceiling.

Home owners can also choose artificial metal tiles for kitchen backspashes, or can paint their own. The first thing to consider before painting the faux tiles is the desired color of the grout in the finished project, because this color must first be applied to the entire wall. Painter's tape can then be used to draw the structure on the wall before applying the paint to make each artificial tile, sharp edges. Once the color is completely dry, the tape can be removed to reveal the completed project. This method can create different tile sizes and grout width.

The greatest diversity of artificial tiles is available for floor installation. Faux floor tiles, which are usually vinyl, mimic the appearance of wood, marble or floor tiles. The cheapest of these tiles is thin, separate vinyl tiles that do not require any separate glue Postallation. Stronger artificial floor tilesare usually used in commercial properties and require glue application.

Faux tiles are among the most diverse projects for improving houses for money. Most artificial tile projects can complete the average house owner in a short time without highly specialized tools or training. The ease of installation and low costs makes them a popular choice for any project of home decoration, where the appearance of the tiles is desirable, but the cost and inconvenience of the real tiles are not.
