What are floating floors?

Floating floors are floor coverings that are not nailed, glued or attached in any way to the surface below. These types of floors consist of a board that connect to each other, but not to the substrate, allowing the floor to "float" above the background. The boards usually connect with the tongue and groove system and, depending on the floor type, are either click or glued together. Metal clips hold some hardwood floating floors together.

There are several types of floating floors, including hardwood, laminate, vinyl and cork. Each type also comes at different prices, designs and colors. Most hardwood types come with a pre -completed surface, some of which can be ground and refined. As with most floor installation methods, both advantages and disadvantages have floating floors.

Easy installation is one of the most popular reasons for choosing a floating floor. Installation is also usually faster and cheapThan most other methods and require no special tools. Many house owners install floating floors themselves and often complete the project for a single weekend. These floors can be installed on most of the existing floor surfaces, including tiles and concrete, if the surface is hard, well -inflated and flat. Floating floors are not recommended for use on most carpets.

Floating floors are particularly suitable for use in areas where moisture is high or moisture. Moisture and moisture fluctuations can cause the wood to expand and download, which can cause gaps between the boards when the moisture is low and the strut when the moisture is high. The floating floor is not attached to the substrate, so it extends and downloads as one complete unit, eliminating gaps and buckles. Small spaces are left where the floor meets the wall to allowNila expansion.

Common complaints of floating floors are that they are louder than traditional connected floors. Walking often produces a hollow sound or furrowing noise and there may be a slight feeling. A special pad laid under the floor is sometimes used on the floor.

Another point of view is that even if the floating floor can be installed on most surfaces, the surface must be completely at the level. Pieces of the floor are difficult or impossible to join if the sub -root is unevenly. This is important to realize because the wrong installation is likely to cause problems with the floor later.
