What are parenchyma cells?

Parenchyma cells are a type of cell found in most plants. Like animals, plants have cells that specialize in different functions. Parenchyma cells are simple cells that are not specialized but occur in almost all plant tissues. The cells found in plants are often grouped into a specific type of cell wall size surrounding the cell and also if the cell lives or dead. Other types of cells that make up tissues in plants are cells of Collenchyma and Scleramentymus cells. In the cell there is a cell membrane that controls what enters and leaves the cell. The center of the cell is filled with a very large vacuum and all other organelles, including core and chloroplasts, are found pushed to the edge of the vacuum cell. Packed together the stems and leaves are provided by turgid parenchyma cells support for herbal plants. These types of plants do not have a woody stem, so at the end of each vegetation season they die to the soil level.

These cells are usually round or spherical, in the shape, but can push them into other shapes with the cells that surround them. Most plant metabolism processes occur in parenchyma cells and can be used to store food and water due to a large vacuole. In the study of plant cells, these are often types of cells that are observed because of their simplified nature.

almost every part of the plant without wood has some parenchym cells. Depending on where the cell is found, it performs a different function. The fact that different functions occur in parenchyma cells in different parts of the plant means that the cell structure may also vary.

The area where the parenchyma cells are found in the leaves is called mesophyll. Since they contain chloroplasts, cells look green. This means that photosynthesis takes place in these cells. During the photosynthesis process, carbon dioxide and water are converted into glucosezu and oxygen. The energy for this process is obtained from sunlight.

Once glucose is produced, then it can be stored in the parenchyme cells found in other parts of the plant. In most cases, storage takes place in the roots of the plant. Food can also be stored in tubers, seeds and fruit that the plant produces.
