What are shingles?
siding are rectangular pieces of wood, aluminum or fiber used to cover the sides of the house or building. The opposite ends of shingles differ in thickness for trouble -free siding installation. Shinades are used to protect the house from elements such as wind, rain and sunlight. Kiding Shindle contributes to the character of the house and can increase the value of the property. They can be seen by hand or machine for smoother and straight edges. The typical method is that the shingles move in rows from end to end and from bottom to top. The siding is laid on the other with the exposed bottom. Primer or protective coating is applied to their protection against decomposition and to increase their longevity.
Traditionally, wood is used for most residential tiles. Cedar tiles are the most common wood for siding, because Cedar is known for its grain and resistance difference from spruce and hemlock rot, deformation and cracking. Since wood is vulnerable to fire, the cedar shingles are coated with chemicalsme with slowing fire. Shingles require maintenance by regular cooking of the protective coating. Cedar siding can take up to 50 years when properly maintained.
One type of siding Cedar is on the board and siding. Wooden boards are placed vertically and the gaps between them are covered with small strips of wood called battens. This external siding is commonly found in barns, colonial houses and rural houses. Unlike other shingles, more architectural styles with album and combat sidewalls are possible. The advantage of the siding on the board and the line is that the insulating material can be inserted between the tiles and the other wall.
Folded shingles are made of sawdust, sand or cement and are called cement boards of fibers. Composite siding is cheaper, resistant to fire and termites and requires low maintenance compared to wood cladding. The disadvantage of composite shingles is its bad insulating properties and bumpy nod. The composite siding creates a bad audio barrier and is not suitable for areas with high traffic.
aluminum tiles have been used since World War II for residential and commercial purposes. Aluminum shingles made of aluminum can be smooth and simple or have painted wooden grains imitating natural cedar siding. The aluminum siding is free of maintenance, corrosion and thermit and recyclable. Will not rot as wooden shingles. These advantages in the long run make aluminum shingles more durable and practical.
