What are the different types of clouds in the sky?

clouds are made of small drops of water or small ice crystals. The water vapor rises into the air, cools and condenses into water droplets, or if the air is cold enough, ice crystals. When enough water vapor condenses into billions of ice crystals or water drops, they form a cloud. Depending on how it works, it becomes one of several types of clouds. The three main types found in the sky are kumulus, stratus and cirrus. Each has many derivatives.

cumulus clouds are white and fluffy, like cotton balls in the sky. These are formed when the warm humid air rises rapidly from the ground and cools down quickly. They can form in clusters and are often seen across the sea at regular intervals. Cumulus cloud may fall in about ten minutes. When they turn dark gray, they are called cumulonimbus clouds and can produce rain, hail or lightning. If the name has the extension nimbus , it means precipitation.

stratus are the clouded LIsty cloud that can stay in place for some time. Cause cloudy weather or rain. Nimbostratus clouds are formed as air rises very slowly on a large area and promises long stable rain. They resemble heavy gray blankets stretched in the sky.

Cirrus The clouds form very high in the sky and are made up of completely icy crystals. They are wise and light and look a bit like a feathers in the sky. If it is enough in the sky that it seems that they will hit each other, they are called cirrostratus clouds that look like a white veil in the sky.

fog is similar to clouds in that they are both made of small water droplets. The clouds form much higher in the sky than the fog, which is formed at Earth's level. The fog is made up of quiet, cold nights because the ground is cold. Water vapor in the air condenses into droplets of water near the ground, filinling air withThese droplets and fog formation. These droplets of water are so small that it takes 7 trillion to make 1 tablespoon (14.78 ml) of water.
