What are the different types of Persian carpets?
Hand -woven Persian carpets are one of the most famous and important products of Persian culture. Their history is ancient and remains a respected artistic form. There are three main types of Persian carpets: Farsh, or Qālii, carpets are greater than 4x6 feet (1.2x1.8 meters), Qālicheh are 6x4 feet or smaller and kilim is flat rugs that are traditionally created nomads. Persian rugs have developed the classification of carpet types named by cities or regions where they are traditionally made. There are more than 30 classifications based on fabric, design and weaving techniques. Kill rugs are classified according to their type of fabric, design and intended purpose. Silk rugs are the most expensive, but least durable and often displayed on the walls like tapestry. The Persian rugs use a huge range of designs, but fall into three basic layouts: versatile, central medallion and one -sided. Some proposals are handed over to families, either memory or through fatteningEsy scale, depending on their complexity.
Traditional designs of Persian rugs can be geometric, including striped patterns or Arabesque, including spiral and Paisley patterns. Some important traditional motifs include historical monuments and Islamic buildings, tree patterns, hunting ground patterns, European flower patterns, vase patterns, connected fish patterns and stem patterns.
Persian carpets can be made with different types of node. The asymmetric Persian node is used in Iran, India, Pakistan, China, Egypt and Turkey, while the symmetrical Turkish node is used in Turkey, East Turkmenistan, the Caucasus, and some of the Turkish and Kurdish regions of Iran. Other, less common types of nodes include the Spanish knot and the Jufti knot. Kilim differs from other types of Persian carpets in that they are flat or rough, without a pile.
kilim rugs usually have a geometric design. The strands of the weft that runshorizontally and form the color and design of the carpet, are usually wool, while vertical hidden warp springs can be wool, cotton or cannabis. Some Kilim carpets are embroidered after weaving. Some Kilim carpets have specific functions outside decorative. Depending on how they are made, they can be used as prayer rugs, horses or wearing fabrics.
