The person who plays the flute is referred to as a fluuutist or simply a flute player. The Byzantine Empire brought them from Asia that they have fully entered European consciousness. They gained popularity until the Renaissance period in the 14th century. Renaissance and Baroque periods produced bass flutes, but they were unlike modern bass flutes in the key G.
