What is a bonus room?

Bonus room usually describes a room in a house that has no intended use. In many cases, the bonus room is located in the house area separate from the main residential areas and bedrooms. Some bonus rooms are in the attic, through garages or in finished basements. Many house owners decided to use this other living space for recreational rooms, family rooms, media centers or home offices. Different uses of the bonus room are generally limited only by the imagination and budget of the house owner.

Large families can find that the bonus room is the best thing to convert it to a family room. The family room is a room where families can relax together, while the real living room has left reserved for use when guests are present or for special occasions. Having a family room besides the living room can cause a lot of pressure in the household that is responsible for cleaning because the living room usually sees much less adaptation isGenerally always prepared for unexpected guests.

Media centers in the home are another use for a bonus room, especially for families that have large screens or projection TVs. A separate room, which serves as a media center, allows seating and other arrangements to concentrate completely on the TV screen regardless of other decoration or practical concern. Media centers can also include stereo equipment and game consoles. The size of the bonus room is not particularly important for its use as media centers, but in general these rooms are small and cozy.

Bonus rooms found in basements are often used as recreational rooms. This is an ideal place for this type of room, because the rest of the house is generally insulated from most noise that can be made from different games. Recreational rooms often have pool tables, ping-pong tablesor DART boards, depending on the specific interests of family members. Bonus rooms that have plumbing are particularly suitable for recreation, because this type of room often contains kitchens or bathroom equipment.

For many homeowners, a bonus room can prove to be invaluable as a home office. This can apply especially to those who work from home and may really need a room for themselves where they can work without distraction. If the bonus room is too small to serve as a family room or a recreational room, it may be a good alternative to turn space into a home office.
