What is the Christmas orchid?

Christmas orchid is an informal name for a handful of different orchids that bloom during the winter holidays. Some Christmas orchids are also used in traditional Christmas flower arrangements. Most of these types of plants are easily grown, but require unique conditions to bloom during Christmas. Among the three most famous types of orchids that bloom during Christmas are Percivel's Cattleya, Winika and Bethlehem Orchid. These Christmas orchids have spectacular flowers with large, disheveled petals. The remarkable lower lobe Cattleya Percivel moves from dark red in the middle to light pink along the edge. Many orchid enthusiasts noted that the strong odor of these flowers can be considered inappropriate. Also known as comet orchid, these Christmas flowers of orchids in the warm forests of his birthplace in the summer. In Europe, North America and other colder climates, orchids are grown to flourish in the interior during the early Winter.
