What is compost?

Compost Crock is a vessel used to collect food waste for composting. Although any re -closable, airtight container can be used to collect pieces of kitchen, compost chambers are designed and made with this particular purpose. In addition to functionality, many compost fraudsters are also designed as an attractive accessory to kitchen decoration.

On average, approximately 25 percent of fixed waste disposed of in municipal landfills composed of waste in the garden and food residues. Composting is almost effortless to recycle food remnants by creating a nutrient -rich lawn and a garden fertilizer known as humus. Once a composting box is placed in the yard, the only effort needed to create humus is to collect suitable food residues from the kitchen and store them in an outdoor box. Nature takes care of the rest. Humus produced can then be used as a lawn fertilizer, mulch and topsoil for new plants.

Typical, commercial -vaiable compost crock is inYoben either stainless steel or ceramics. The most common models are in the shape of miniature waste, the most common models (26.67 to 27.94 cm) high with a diameter of 6.5 to 8 inches (16.51 to 20.32 cm). Ceramic models come in different shades from basic white to bright primary colors. There is one manufacturer that produces a compost in the shape of a large, shiny apple for those who want a decorative approach.

Kitchen Compost Crocks are designed to be odorless, with tightly fastened rubber seals and replaceable coal filters in the lid. Biologically degradable inserts are also available. The inserts are not required, but can shorten even further to odors and are useful when the time comes to empty the undercoats.

compost Crock eliminates the need to go to the basket to the backyard after each food cleaning. As with internal recycling baskets, the comfort of compost can increase the probability, that food remnants recycle for compost instead of being discarded by non -recyclable rejection. With a capacity of 3-kvart (2.84 liters), a typical compost pot would have to be emptied twice a week for an average family. The use of a closed composting sole to dispose of the egg shell, the grinding of coffee and the vegetable skin can also reduce the kitchen odors, which often result from the disposal of these materials to the normal basket for kitchen garbage.

Typical compost is easily suited to most kitchen counters and without more than 8 inches (20.32 cm) bases have a relatively small track. Most of them are equipped with a deposit handle for easy emptying, whether it is used by a biodegradable insert. Even without a liner, the ceramic and stainless steel version is easy to clean with hot water. Coal filters can be purchased separately and are effective for up to six months.
