What is a fairy?

Fairy Duster (Calliandra Eerophhylla) is a low -growing permanent shrub from the southwestern United States. A whip without a thorn is a member of a pea family and usually stands between 8 and 20 inches (about 20 to 50 centimeters) high with a spread of 3 to 4 feet (about 91 to 122 centimeters). Fairytale duster contains white or pink flowers along with green lace leaves.

also known as false mesquite, mesquitella, furry deciduous Calliandra and False Mesquite, Fairytale Duster grows in deserts and pastures in Arizona, California, New Mexico and Texas, as well as in Mexico. A small shrub is capable of growing in almost any type of soil and is usually found in dry and rocky soil at a height of between 1,000 and 5,000 feet (about 305 to 1,524 meters). Fairy Duster grows best in areas where they are fully exposed to sunlight. It is also able to grow in areas where temperatures fall to 10 degrees Fahrenheit (about -12 Celsius). IF shrub is covered with frost, it is able to recover quickly.

A considerable amount of leaves may fall or bother if the plant becomes free of water or is experiencing severely low temperatures. The leaves usually grow after precipitation.

Fairy duster is often used to create a hummingbird garden. The shrub attracts hummingbirds and other birds including Finches, Verdins, Wrens and Gnatcatchers with a nectar producing flowers. shrub needs minimal pruning to maintain its naturally rounded shape. During the landscaping, the Duster fairy is used to highlight the property and also for informal hedges. The crypt has almost no problem with diseases or pests, although it is known that rabbits graze newly planted bushes.
