What is a green heron?
Green Heron or Butorides Viruescens is a small bird that lives near wetlands. It belongs to the family of birds known as green supported herons. Their habitats include ponds, streams, swamps and streams in North and South America areas. Birds are known by their use of baits to attract their prey to the surface of the water.
The average weight of the green heron is approximately 6 ounces (175 grams) and measures between 16 and 18 inches in length (41-46 cm). The female herons are smaller than men and are less clearly colored. Green herons have greenish black feathers covering the upper head and feathers on the wings are mainly black with a bluish shade. Their feathers in the throat and chest are reddish -brown.
The green heron range extends over the eastern half of the United States and to South Canada. Birds also live in Mexico, parts of the southwestern United States and parts of North South America.
