What is a ground skink?

Ground skink is a type of small lizard originating from parts of North America. It is located in several types of habitats, but usually prefer deciduous forests. His long body and short legs allow him to quickly twist through dead leaves on the forest bottom to escape the predators.

From the Scinidae family is sometimes referred to as a small brown skink. It is originally from the eastern parts of North America. In the United States, this can be found to the north like New Jersey, up south as Florida, and west to Texas. It can also be found in some parts of Northern Mexico.

This reptile is considered the smallest lizard in the United States. Adults often grow not greater than 3 to 6 inches (7.5 to 15.2 centimeters). Even ground skin eggs that are laid in summer are small, usually not larger than penny. Most of these lizards, however, make sure the copper color, with tanned or white underside. Dark stripes can be seen on both sides of the body that move from nose to tipCE tail.
