What is a Havanenský dog?
Havanese is a breed of a dog that came from Cuba and was originally bred as playful companions for children of Cuban aristocracy. The breed was also used for grazing chicken and geese on family farms. It is part of a bichon or a bearded group of dogs. These dogs were once popular circus dogs in Havana and the breed was known as the silk dog Havana. The hair is long on the tail and is a silk texture. The desired weight of the average Havanesis of about 9 to 10.5 inches (22.86 to 26.67 cm) is £ 8 to £ 11 (3.6 to 4.9 kg).
A Havanes coat can only have a slight wool, or it can be very curly. The breed has a detail and does not pour. The color of the coat moves from cream to black and many mixed colors. All colors of this breed are recognized in North America, but chocolate and black are popular shades with breeders. Dogs are high maintenance because the coat requires a lot of combing and brushing. However, the coat can be cropped to a shorter cut for easier care.
