The native of the central regions of Japan is a plant locally known as Japanese cypress or simply Hinoki. It is a common view in Japanese gardens and parks, as well as other places with a slight climate such as North America and Western Europe. This tree is also often used in bonsai, the art of growing miniature trees in containers.

Hinoki Cypress grows to a height of about 50 to 75 feet (15 to 23 m) and spreads to about 10 to 20 feet (3 to6 m) wide. Has a dark reddish brown barkthat usually peel off in elongated and narrow strips. Of the green leaves, the blunt tips have a white belt at the bottom and measure about 0.1 to 0.2 inches (2 to 4 mm) long. Ball -shaped balls measure a diameter of 0.3 to 0.5 inches (about 8 to 12 mm) and have eight to 12 scales arranged in pairs.

6 To avoid leaving trees standing in the water overnight, watering should only be done in the morning or early in the afternoon. By using a soil that drains rapidly, the soil can be allowed to dry somewhat between watering. Frequent fogging can also be supplemented by watering.

For the spread of hinoki cypresses, semi-grown slices are usually rooted in a later part of summer or seeds are sown outside during spring and planted seeds. The seeds normally germinate after one year of preliminary cold treatment. Cuts are more frequently preferred by commercial gardeners because they quickly rooted. Hinoki Cypress thrives in fullSun conditions in wet, well -drained soils that are neutral to slightly acidic.

Many bacterial and fungal diseases is a problem for Hinoki Cypress, usually infects the tree under wet conditions. Insects such as Juniper or Bagworm are governed by pesticides. Sometimes it is difficult to control due to nests that make dead leaves and debris, but these nests can be removed manually.
