What is Kermode bear?
Kermode Bear is a subspecies of a black bear, which occurs only in parts of Western Canada, especially on the royal island of the princess. These bears are particularly known for the rare gene they wear, allowing some of them to be white. Even in the Kermode population, the white color is rare, but it is the most famous aspect of the Kermode Bear. The color also resulted in the nickname "Ghost Bear" and surrounded by several myths and legends.
Only approximately 10% of the Kermod bear population carries a gene and many of them actually do not have white color. Most Kermode bears looks just like common black bears, although they can also have red, gray or yellow color. In order to make a white bear, two individual animals that carry the gene must be paired. Unlike many other species that have white hair, Kermode bears are not considered.
The main habitat of Kermode bear is the so -called "Big Bear rainforest". This includes parts of the British Colombia and several islands off the coast. OSThe thrust part of this habitat contains several places where animals could develop in isolation for a very long time. In this way, most scientists think that Kermode subspecies have evolved. It was known that many animals in this area, including bears, were slightly less afraid of people, partly because of this isolation.
In most behavior, the Kermode bear is very similar to the other black bears. In winter, hibernation, usually emerges early in the spring. Females have been born about four chicks and have been taking care of them for about two years. The mother does not generally carefully follow their chicks, which can be potentially dangerous to people.
Like most bear species, Kermode Bear is omnipotent. The main diet of bears is salmon, which is very common in the area around the rainforest Great Bear. In general, they also eat many berries, vegetation and small creatures such as insects or rodents. Kermode bears have to eat a lot in the summer so they canFeeding to hibernate, and this usually means they will eat almost anything they can safely find or catch.
The destruction of the habitat has significantly damaged the Kermode bear population. They are also released with other black bears, and this could eventually lead to the destruction of their unique genetic line. The law is currently protecting bears and efforts to maintain the safety of the population, but the future of Kermode is generally uncertain.
