Kuchisake-on is a vengeful Japanese spirit, or yokai , with the mouth cut out of the ear to the ear. Her name means a "wife of a slot" and is said to wander a surgical mask on the streets at night and asks her victims, "I'm beautiful?" ifThe victim replies no or runs away, Kuchisake-on kills him. Kuchisake-on is usually equipped with a sharp, hat, in some cases a large scythe. In the case of a female sacrifice, the spirit can turn it into another cook-on-on.
Different versions of the Kuchisake-on story offer different ways to save themselves if a monster approaches them. In some stories he leaves the victim in the room if he still says that Kuchisake -na is beautiful after removing the mask. In other versions, however, it just delayed death, and the correct answer is, "You look normal." Other stories indicate throwing something attractive, such as a piece of fruit or candy, apart to avert Kuchisake-on.
