What is Moonye?
Mooneye is a silvery freshwater fish from North America. The shimmering creature comes from the Hiodontidae family. This beam fish gets its name from large round metal eyes. Moonye fish, commonly referred to as a toothed sequence, are not considered to be a weighted food source.
Several different fish types are known as Mooneye Fish. These clupeoid fish are considered primitive, with thin, almost flat bodies. Mooneyes prominently expanded their tails and very sharp teeth. These teeth are arranged on the tongue of the fish and on the roof of the mouth.
BELLIES OF MOONYE FISH has smooth standards. A small valve known as the pelvic auxiliary process can be found directly above the pelvic fin fish. The appearance of the fish is considered to be a similar appearance of the sequence and provides it with the nickname of the gear.
These fish are small, only up to 12 inches (31 cm) and an average of 1 pound (2.2 kg) of weight. Some more moonyes can measure up to 19 inches (48 cm) and weigh up to 3 pounds (6.6 kg). Moonye fish are carnivorous. Their mealsAnd consists of several different types of small organisms such as shrimp, molluscs, insects and other small fish.
Moonye fish are an endangered group of animals. Their number continues to decrease during their different habitats. One of the causes of their reduced population size is considered to be attributed to the calculation of water where the fish are found. Other causes of their shrinking numbers remain unknown.
Two types of family, hiodon tergisus and hiodon alosoides remain alive and can be found wide in North America. The Mooneye station ranges from South Canada to the Mississippi River Basin. It prefers bright rivers such as those found in lakes and ponds. Three species, hiodon conseniorum , hiodon rosei and hiodon Woodruffi are extinct.
hiodon alosoides is also known as Goldeney Fish. While hiodon tergisus has a dorsal fin, which begins before his anal fin, the dorsal fin Goldeneye is in line with his anal fins. Unlike hiodon Tergisus , the Hiodon Alosoides has gold irises rather than silver.
eggs laid by these fish have a similar appearance and consistency as frog eggs. Moonye fish usually puts eggs on rocks from March to May. In spring, friction occurs. One female fish can be expected to place 10,000 to 20,000 eggs.
