What is a passion?
Passion Play is a dramatic performance of the court and death of Jesus Christ, which occurred in the first century AD. Since the last dinner after the crucifixion, passion has been trying to represent the passion that Christ felt during this trial period. Passion games have been for centuries, with the oldest written passionate game from the 17th century. They are also carried out worldwide, often with a large fanfare and part of a long -term tradition. Usually, it is also performed during Easter that passion is played. Good Friday is a day when it was crucified, and Easter Sunday represents a day when Christians believe that Jesus Christ got up from the grave. He was arrested by the temple guardians of the last dinner during which he gave the last sermon. Christ was subsequently sentenced to death by Pontius Pilate, whipping and then hanging and crucified between two thieves.
The crucifixion is generally considered a real historical event. It is described in all four gospels and verified by current sources. Whether he was the son of God and/or the Messiah remains the subject ofDiscussion in modern theology.
Passion plays are sometimes the aim of criticism if the depiction of Jews is considered hostile. This was when Mel Gibson released the film "Passion of Christ" in 2004. Gibson directed a drama and was charged with anti -Semitic bias.
The longest cross -country passion dates back to 1634 in the Bavarian village of Oberammergau. This game will still survive to this day and more than half of the population in the city participate in produce. It is assumed that the inhabitants of the city have committed themselves to God that if they saved them from the bubonic plague, they would create a game that depicts Jesus' life and death every ten years. As soon as the mortality rate began to retreat, the inhabitants had maintained their promise and since then there has been passions every ten years.
The word passion is used to describe very strong emotions to something. Jesus Christ is assumed that during his court and crucifixion he has shown a great passion and therefore the name of the games. IsHim strong beliefs of forgiveness are evident in his reported forgiven words from the cross "Father, forgive them because they do not know what they are doing."
