What is Plattenbau?
Plattenbau is a German apartment building made of prefabricated concrete panels. The construction of the panel of this nature became very popular around the world at the age of 60 and was strongly used in war countries after World War II to quickly provide refugees, as well as members of the community who need homes. This type of construction is still used in some regions of the world and a number of regional and slang terms are used to indicate such structures; In the case of Plattenbau, the word literally means "building panels". Numerous cities throughout Europe experienced considerable bomb damage in the war and needed available housing that could be quickly built after the war to meet the lack of housing. In Germany, as in many other nations, Plattenbau, a building that could be quickly and easily built in various climate crews familiar with technology.
The buildings differ in height. Older structures are two to three stories. As technology improved, buildings have increased. Plattenbau is particularly closely linked to East Germany, where many structures were hot commodities for residents who tried to get out of their homes damaged by bomb and cramped living conditions. West Germany has also used such a construction since the age of 40, and this style of architecture can also be seen in Europe.
Such buildings tend to be block and non -maginative in design. Some companies add elements such as colored panels or unusual shapes to make them visually interesting, but because the cost and ease of construction are primary concerns, many structures remain unadfeed. In Germany, we stood up on the outskirts of towns and planned several cities in their rebuilt designs after the war.
As the European economies have recovered and the taste of design has changed, and especially after the unification of Plattenbau has become less common. Non -massAffility in many structures is very high because the Germans attract newer design, including structures with modern equipment, more interesting visual appearance and larger interior spaces. Although historical buildings were once destroyed to create space for the construction of Plattenbau, these buildings are demolished in many parts of Germany for replacement of newer structures and the new design of Plattenbau is relatively rare.
