What is Sunbird?

Sunbird is a very small forest bird that lives in tropical areas of the South Pacific, Asia and Africa. There are about 100 species of the sun, all belonging to the Nectariniidae family and differ in size from 3.5 to 8.5 inches (about 9-22 cm). Although there are many species, all of the sun share some qualities. All species have a long slender account that curls down, a tongue that is longer than the account and wings that are stubborn and rounded. Interestingly, the tongue is shaped something like a tube and helps sunburns to pull nectar out of flowers.

The most significant physical characteristics of the sun bird is its color. During the reproduction period, men of most sunbird species are brilliantly colored in a combination of shimmering metal purple, black, blue and green, along with red, orange and yellow stains. At the end of the reproduction period, the men will melt and accept a somewhat more common look. Women look very similar regardless of todruhu. But everyone lacks the iris of the male andThey have a dull color, which is mostly yellow, brown or gray.

geographically, the Sunbird family is widely found from Africa through Asia and the South Pacific. The African continent has the greatest diversity of the sun; They are extensively distributed in the sub -Saharan region, Madagascar and Egypt. In Asia, the sun bird is around the Red Sea, to the north like Israel and then from Iran through Indonesia and Southern China. Sunbirds also lives on Solomon Islands, New Guinea and Northeast Australia. Scientists generally think that the sun bird comes from Africa and slowly migrated to the east.

For habitats, solars usually prefer tropical rainforests in lowland or mountain areas. However, these birds can also be found in open forests of Savannas, in mangrove areas and vest bordering rivers in arid land. Some species such as the Palestinian Sun Bird, even inhabit Vegetaci in desert areas. These are not migratory birds, but they can change it somewhat when they are not reproduced. Their diet consists mostly of nectar of small flowers, but also feed on small insects, fruit and spiders.

During the reproduction period, the sun is a monogamous pair for mating. Both sexes take care of hatchlings, but only a woman constructs a nest and incubates eggs. Most often, parasols build nests that have a handbag similar to shape and are suspended from a small tree branch. The average life expectancy of the sun bird is about seven years.
