What is Tomburine?

Tamburine is a small hand drum made by stretching thin animal leather or parchment over a wooden ring. The frame has several pairs of metal discs, so when it shakes, the discs clash like cymbals, which makes a pleasant sound. The drum with the joints will give you both the sound of the drum and the jingle discs. The rubbing of the hand through the drum causes the whipping noise.

The origins of tambourines are lost in antiquity; In the Old Testament, he often mentions an instrument of celebrations, as is here: "Then Miriam Prophet, Aaron's sister, took tambourine and all women followed her, with Tambourina and dance." (Exodus 15:20)

It is usually considered a "female tool" because it is light and can be played in dance, so the dancer can provide her own accompaniment. The stereotypical picture of the "Gypsy dance girls" with a swirling of skirts, hanging earrings and tambourine held over her head as she twisted at the fire point of the Gypsy camp.

ancient shamans used a tool very much like tambourine to triggerchanged states of consciousness and talked to ghosts; They did not use metal discs on the Zněnka, but should be beads of different materials connected to the frame with strips of leather or twine. The frame could be shaken to cause the beads to hit the drum.

Tambourines are now mainly associated with folk and ethnic music; Almost every culture had an instrument very similar to today's tambourine. It is less predominant in the so -called "classical" music; This means that popular music of the previous few centuries.

wooden rings with inserted "jingles" that do not have drum skin are also called tambourines. Their sound is always positive; It's hard to imagine a dirge with tambourines.
