What is Alyogyne?

Alyogyne is a genus of xerophytic shrubs consisting of four species that were previously classified as part of the hibiscus. The bushes have many branches and are covered with star hair. They grow in sand into serious areas of South and Western Australia. Alyogyne, which produces the abundance of flowers, is distinguished from Ilyogyne by having an undivided style. Rod is part of the Malvaceae family.

Blue hibiscus, which has the scientific name alyogyne huegelii , and red-based ibiscus, allyogyne hakeifolia was cultivated for use as decorative shrub. The blue hibiscus grows to a height of about 8 feet (2.5 m) and has leaves with a length of up to 3 inches (7 cm). The leaves are bright green and lobed in three to five segments. Flowers that produce hundreds of flowers are 3 to 4 inches (7 to 10 cm) and come in yellow, white, lilac, pink and moldings.
