What is Abaya?

In the Islamic world, it is often common for women to wear an exaggerated country that covers almost the entire body. In countries on the Arabian Peninsula, this garment is known as abaya . Abaya is usually black and covers from the head or shoulders down to the feet. In Saudi Arabia, where it is a law that women have to deal with, Abaya wear with niqab, a veil that covers all parts of the head and face except the eyes. Muttawa or religious police promote the law and can punish the woman if you can see without this coverage.

Because the Qur'an states that women must dress modestly and cover themselves, Abaya was an integral part of Arab societies throughout history. However, the words of the Qur'an are for interpretation, which can explain why some countries and regions are stricter to wear Abaya than others. Some countries and regions allow embroidered simple designs for Abayat, but are most often black and very simple. Are made of light materials such as thin cotton, crepe or even silk, and other colors ABAyat can be worn unless they attract unnecessary attention to the woman.

Abayat is not required in most Arab countries by law, but women are still tending to wear. Again, it is because the Qur'an states that women must be carried with modesty; Some women believe that they can show their modesty in other ways, and therefore do not wear Abayat, but the high proportion of women wear Abaya to show their modesty externally, maintaining their religious beliefs.

Abayat has become a subject of controversy in recent years. They were banned together with Burqa in France and many other Western countries discussed the introduction of clothing ban. The reasons for this prohibition vary, but the most communication of defense for the expulsion of clothing is the argument that abayat allows the wearer to hide weapons or other smuggled smuggled. This idea has been reinforced after several suicidal attacks around the world that used the use of Abaya nEbo Burqa to camouflage weapons. In Western countries, such as the United States, women wearing Abaya may also become a goal of hostility, as they are automatically identified as Muslims, and September 2001 is a great tension and misunderstanding of Muslim faith.
