What is an ornamental pear?

A decorative pear is a tree that is grown more for its value in the landscape than for its fruit. Most of them do not produce fruit at all and instead grown for their beautiful spring flowers, colorful autumn leaves and attractive shapes. All varieties came from the variety Pyrus Calleryana in China. This species is commonly known as Callery or Bradford Pear.

Most of these infertile trees grow quite high and can reach 60 feet (18 m), with an attractive rounded or slightly pointed silhouette. The elongated glossy leaves are dark green and pale on the underside. In the autumn, they can take care of bright pink, red, purple or clearly orange, even though they change color quite late in the season. The masses of heavily salivary white flowers appear in front of the leaves at the beginning of the middle lane.

Unlike many other ornamental trees, the pear requires very little care. It simply requires a lot of direct sunlight and rich soil, which is well drained slightly acidic. JaraE should be applied a mulch layer to prevent the tree from drying out during hot summer weather. Most varieties are the winter zone of USDA 5.

While these infertile trees are not usually susceptible to significant contamination or pest diseases, they may occasionally suffer from root rot, leaves of leaves, leaves of leaves or fireplaces. When these diseases occur, they need to be acknowledged and treated early because they can cause the death of trees. Pruning should be done annually, at the end of autumn or early winter to remove all branches that show signs of the disease.

The decorative pear is very sensitive to weather damage and the suitcase is often divided into high winds or under the weight of heavy winter snow. The branches and limbs tear off and leave a mess and unsightly, damaged tree. Sometimes the whole tree will be uprooted and the storm has appeared. As a result, the ornamental pear should always be foldedZena in an area that has some wind protection.

While they are appreciated by gardeners and landscape painters for their beauty, these trees are considered an invasive species in some areas of the United States. Although they were previously considered sterile and unable to spread when decorative pears are planted closely together, they can cross pollinating and produce viable seeds that are distributed to other areas of birds. The seeds will then grow into new trees that will be a flower in just three years.
