What is anigozanthos?

Anigozanthos is a genus flowering plant from southwestern Australia and better known as Kangaroo Paw. The genus contains 11 species of rhizomatous herbal permanent plants. While Anigozanthos grows only in the wilderness of Australia, some varieties are commercially grown in the United States and elsewhere. Anigozanthos Manglesii , with flowers that range from 2 inches to 4 inches (5 to 10 centimeters) is the official flower of Western Australia. Thanks to its dramatic appearance, it is popular as a cut flower and in domestic gardens. The flowers are usually clearly colored and small hair in the contrasting color can be seen on the petals. Blossoms are shaped to help pollinating birds, with pollen -loaded antheraldies placed, so the pollen falls on the bird's head when it rests on the status of the plant. Different kinds of anigozanthos put pollen on the bird's head and the pollen is redistributed to the next race that visits the bird. Pollen of different species rarely intertwines even though they share the same HLava bird like a pollinator.

Plants

Anigozanthos are usually grown more from seeds than chains, largely, because the herbal nature of the plant to robust and healthy do not deteriorate. Instead, herbal plants are often treated as a padhole; Angizanthos is considered a short -term perennial with a typical life of less than five years. Once the seeds are planted in a well -drained soil with a lot of sun during spring or summer, it usually takes a year for the plant to begin with flowering.

Kangaroo paw grows in clusters that can be divided to prolong the life of the plant, even if it removes clusters and replaced with fresh spines are common. Anigozanthos is sleeping during the colder months, some plants die almost completely. Some gardeners cut the plants back at the end of winter to remove the foliage damaged weather in an effort to avoid the disease. The most common problems areA sponge that causes an ink disease that leads to black spots that appear on the leaves of the plant. Removal and burning affected leaves are considered one of the best forms of inkjet disease treatment. Some cultivars are designed to be resistant to ink disease.

Kangaroo Paw has long been used in indigenous medicine and is used in some contemporary health and cosmetic products, although its exact benefits are unclear. Chmur on the plant can irritate the skin.
