What is Brodiaea?

Brodiaea is a genus of plants that is part of the Liliaceae family. It contains about 14 species of permanent herbs that come from the western part of North America. These plants have flowering stems that rise above the grass hills of the leaves. Landscapes use these plants in pots or boundaries. Plants in the family Brodiaea are generally easy to maintain and can be promoted by seed or division. For example, b. Elegans is called Harvest Brodiaea or elegant cluster lily. b. Californica is simply called California Brodiaea, while b. Coronaria is known as the crown of Brodiaea.

These plants are located in Western United States, Western Canada and California Baja. Californica fills open and forested plains of California and Oregon. b. Coronaria extends from British Columbia to California.

Elegant cluster lily is a commonly refined plant that grows about 3 feet (1 m) in height. Leaves consist of narrowH leaves that are 4-16 inches long (10-40 cm). Usually grows at the end of winter or early spring and usually brown at a time when flower buds are large. The flowering stem is as long as the leaves, but it is upright while the leaves fall.

In general, the flowers of elegant cluster lily are bluish or purple and shaped as paths. California Brodiaea has white, pinkish white or lavender flowers. Flowers are usually arranged in umbels that have several stems of flowers with the same length that come from the same point on the stem.

In order to successfully cultivate this plant, a garden or landscape that is partially overshadowed from the Sun should be set. The soil should be dry to wet and should have a great consistency. This plant should be grown next to plants of a similar height to support flowering stems because they tend to tremble in the wind.

eleganceThree cluster lily can be spread by seeds or dividing. It usually takes 2-3 years before flowers from the seeds. Promotion through distribution requires excavation and cutting CORM. Corm is an underground stem that stores water and nutrients. Usually it serves as a reserve supply of nutrition during winter or dry.
