What is bromeliaceae?

bromeleceae, or bromeliads, is a family of flowering plants consisting of approximately 45 families and 2,000 species. All of these plants come from the tropical regions of Northern, Central and South America, with the exception of a single species, Pitcairnia Feliciana , which is located in Africa. Bromeleceae species are usually characterized by leaves of a similar scale and many species such as Spanish moss, tillandsia Usneoides , connect to other trees or plants. This family is sometimes called a pineapple family because it includes a pineapple plant, pineapple comosus .

Most bromeleceae species are medium -sized plants, although some may be woody and several trees. The two most common families in bromeleceae are tillandsia on which most epiphytic plants, or those growing on other plants without being parasitic, and hechtia , which include many underground plants with long, stiff, peaks, spikesPlants.

One of the most famous plants in the family tillandsia , Spanish moss, is found mainly in Louisiana and Florida in the United States. In fact, it is not moss, this plant grows on cypress, oak and elm trees in long hanging curtains. Spanish moss consists of a gray bark surrounding the fibrous interior. The interior was once used for mattress stuffing and is still located as a stuffing in more expensive furniture because it is a natural insect.

Like other epiphytic plants, Spanish moss is an air plant, which means it absorbs nutrients directly from the air instead of the soil. The roots of these plants only serve to hold them on a tree and do not provide them with water or nutrients, as is common in most plants. Spanish moss is promoted fragments that are transmitted to other birds trees.

Pineapple is an important crop in Hawaii and can be grown in parts of the southwestern United States such as Arizona. They are also grown in the Philippines, South Africa and Asia.
