What is Chimaphila?

chimaphila The classification of the family is given by five species of flowering plants in the family of plants ericaceae . These plants are often referred to as winter walls or evergreen. Unlike most plants prospering in the northern hemisphere, which eventually lose leaves during the autumn and winter season, these specific plants continue to have significantly green leaves throughout the year. In fact, the name of the family chimaphila comes from the Greek words cheima , which means the winter and philos , which means a mission. More commonly referred to as Prince pine, this flowering Wintergreen plant is found in dry forests, usually under large coniferous trees. It is a small plant that grew up to 14 inches (35 cm) in height. In addition to the United States and Canada, Prince Pine is also found in some regions of Europe and Asia, where its roots are used as a ashobyl cure for the treatment of various diseases, including tuberculosis. Today this evergreen is used as aroming orNidve for some types of candies and soft drinks.

Another evergreen classified according to this family is chimaphil maculata . It acquires its common name, striped Wintergreen, from distinctive striped brands on its leaves, which are caused by almost white veins contrasting with the dark green color of its leaves. Like the prince pine, the striped winter usually occurs in dry forests, where conifers and oaks are also successful. They grow slightly smaller than Prince pine, usually more than 10 inches (25 cm). Since 2010, the striped evergreen has been at risk, especially in Ontario and Quebec, Canada and in the northeastern parts of the United States.

A smaller but similar type of plants as chimaphil maculata is chimaphila japonica or Japanese winter. As the name suggests, this evergreen plant is located in Japan. Its stems have a length of only 4 inches (10 cm). JapThe winter green has a wide, leaf -shaped spear, each measuring about 1.5 inches (4 cm).

Another type of evergreen, which falls under this classification, is chimaphila Menziesii . This particular flowering plant usually occurs in coniferous forests located between 2,500 and 8,000 feet (760 and 2,500 m) above the sea level in the western part of North America. It is also used in some parts of Canada and Mexico. Chimaphila Menziesii is often called pine of Little Prince, because it is very similar to the plant Prince pine. Its roots are used as a herbal remedy to improve blood circulation by some Indian trunks.
