What is Daidzein?

Daidzein is a phytochemical that is located in soy, peas and other plants such as kudzu and red clover. It is polyphenol in the class of flavonoids known as isoflavones . The soy isoflavones were widely studied in terms of their effects on human health. These include antioxidant activity and protection against different types of cancer. These types of compounds have a structure similar to the estrogen. They also bind to estrogen receptors in animal and human cells. They are therefore known as phytoestrogens or estrogens of plants. They were involved as anti -cancer substances for hormone -based cancer such as breast and prostate cancer. Prostate and breast cancer rate is much lower in countries like Japan compared to those in the West. When the Japanese emigrated to the United States and moved to American food, their prostate cancer rate increased significantly. It is assumed that this could be caused by a shift from a diet based on soy. Study comparing StraPeople with their cancer level found correlation between soybean consumption and reduced prostate cancer.

Laboratory studies have also shown that Daidzein has antitumor effects against pancreatic, large intestine, uterus, prostate and breast cancer. Many different types of studies state that soy isoflavones protected from breast cancer. Asian women have a lower breast cancer than Western women. As with men, population studies have shown that as Asian women moved to the West, the differences in breast cancer disappeared after the diet switched.

Another effect of daidzein is that it causes bone cell growth in laboratory studies. This suggests that this could be useful in protecting the bone loss that occurs in women during menopause when hormone levels decrease. Hormonal estrogen has been used to help prevent bone loss but research shows that it has many sideeating side effects.

kudzu root is used to produce a traditional herbal drug called Radix Pueraraiae (RP). It contains daidzein. Among other things, it is used in traditional Chinese medicine for the treatment of alcoholism. Animal studies have some evidence that this isoflavone may have certain effects against alcoholism.

Daidzein supplements are launched for prostate protection. However, it is not clear how well they work. One should always check with a doctor before they remove any herbal supplement because they often interact with prescription drugs or other herbs. It may be best to get daidzein by eating soy products.
