What is a plant estrogen?

estrogen plants, often also called phytoestrogen, are a naturally occurring non -steroidal compound in plants that share a chemical structure similar to estradiol compounds - estrogen, as it occurs in the human body. The non -steroidal compound does not contain steroid compounds soluble in fats that have physiological effects on the human body. While plant estrogen is not exactly the same as human estrogen, its effects on the human body are similar. In general, these plant hormones are from exactly the same chemical makeup as human hormones and can be weaker, thus having a smaller, albeit potentially significant effect on the body. Plant estrogen is not considered a nutrient such as vitamins or minerals, and has no role in any main biological function in the body.

There are four main groups of phytoestrogen: Isoflavons, flavones, Coumestans and Lignans. Isoflavons, flavones and Coumestans are all flavonoids. This means that the chemical structure of plant pigments has an antioxidantthe properties. Foods containing the highest amount of plant estrogen include soybeans, tofu, tempeh, soy drinks, flax seeds, sesame seeds and oats.

discovered in 1926, plant estrogen was initially observed only as part of plant biology and was assumed that it had no effect on human or animals physiology. As the research continued, scientists found that high levels of estrogen plants in red clover had mild effects on fertility and reproductive sheep grazing systems. Although the amount of estrogen contained in the plant is much smaller than it is in the human body, sheep consumed a large amount of red clover per day and was therefore affected by estrogen in plants.

The following research was conducted on plant estrogen and its possible beneficial or harmful effects on the body, specifically concerning diabetes and breast Cancer. After several studies scientists STIt is not clear whether the phytoestrogen can cause or prevent breast cancer. However, it turned out that this has a positive effect on women suffering from the effects of menopause, such as hot, breast pain and mood. Further research has indicated that the consumption of plant -based estrogen has a beneficial effect on people who are diabetics or are clinically obese. These studies have shown that ingestion of these compounds can improve glucose control and insulin resistance, as well as moderation of hyperglycemia and reduce human weight.
