What is Datura?
Datura is a genus of plants. The species included in the genus are all flowering plants that bloom in the evening. Each of the nine species in datura is toxic and many have been used as hallucinogens or poisons. Examples include Datura Stramonium or Jimson Weed, Datura inoxia and Datura Wrightii .
Rod Datura is a member of the Soloanaceae family, which also includes a genus nicotiana , tobacco and solanum of the genus, composed of tomatoes, potatoes and unification. This family is often cultivated by people who grow many species for food and therapeutic purposes. Many other species contain toxic alkaloids that are harmful to human health and sometimes deadly.
Datura types are considered. Despite the absence of a woody stem, a single flower does not decrease, but firmly holds its upright position. datura can reach heights of up to 2 feet (70 cm) while the leaves often grow to about 6 inches (15 cm) DLouhé with slight hairs covering the surface.
upright flowers are in the shape of bells and may be white, pink or purple depending on the type. Other, less ordinary datura may even have red or yellow petals that show lighter shades, distant from the stem that the flower grows. Flowers datura can be anywhere from 2 inches (5 cm) to 7 inches (20 cm) long. The seeds are produced in small, top pods that open and release them when they are ripe.
types in datura have tropane alkaloids, especially in flowers and seeds, which makes them toxic to many animals, including humans. Throughout history, these plants have been collected by the production used to produce fatal poisons and to induce hallucinogenic visions. Harvest practice datura for fatal and hallucinogenic purposes reaches back to at least 3,000 BCE and prevails in shamanic cultures.
Similarly, tropical alkaloids, especially atropine and scopolamine found in the types datura , anticholinergic, which means that they inhibit the ability of the central and peripheral nervous system to control involuntary movements. These alkaloids can affect a number of different nerve receptors in different parts of the body, such as lungs and gastrointestinal tract, depending on the type datura . Death can be the result of shutdown of circulatory, reparatory, gastrointestinal and urinary system during overdose.Cases of overdose datura , especially from recreational use, are common in uninformed individuals. If a child enjoys datura , it is a typical result of mortality. Overdose may cause symptoms of up to 36 hours, during this time hospitalization is required.
