What is Fynbos?

Fynbos is a type of vegetation characterized by small thin bushes and low grass. It is located only in the small area of South Africa along the western and southern part of Cape. This area is known as Biom Fynbos Biome because of the fact that this type of plant life does not happen where else on Earth. The name of this biome is derived from a traditional African phrase that means "fine shrubs". While the appearance and growth patterns of Fynbos may vary dramatically, these plants share the ability to prosper in enemy conditions. Small, shrubs similar to plants in this South African region do not create usable wood for construction. They are often considered unattractive from a distance, although closer viewing can reveal flowers or other attractive features that make Fynbos a common garden plant in some areas. Due to the lack of nutrients in the soil, thje plant life is suitable for grazing and is not used in agriculture.

Unlike many other types of vegetation, this plant family is capable ofSurvive in conditions that are relatively inhospitable. Most soil in Biome Fynbos has extremely poor quality, with several nutrients to provide nutrition. The weather is very dry and windy for most of the year and the plants are exposed to frequent sunlight.

Perhaps the most impressive is the fact that these plants have learned to survive frequent fires and fires with a brush that occur in the region. In fact, these plants have adapted from the fire and depends on survival. Many varieties Fynbos release the seeds contained in the fire. The seeds lie in the ground until the fire is mixed and the heat of the flames causes a fracture of the shell. As existing plants arsed, the seeds begin to hatch and create a new packaging of vegetation.

plants in the Fynbos family can be categorized as one of four varieties. The most common are ericoid, with more than 3,000 species with small twisted leaves. Proteoids are the highest of fYnbos and are known for their large leaves and bright colored flowers. Geophytes, including the species of lily, orchids and iris, can bloom when the conditions in Biome Fynbos are warm and wet. Finally, renoids form different types of grasses that are generally without flowering.
