What is Goth?

Goth means many things for many people, and there is constantly discussion in the community about what is and is not included. Goth can basically refer to the post-punk music genre with dark or grim sound and object and subculture that has grown out of this music. It has many influences, including the Gothic fiction of the 18th and 19th centuries and horror films at the beginning of the 20th century. Those who identify themselves as Goth usually have a love of black and morbid for all things, but they are a very diverse group of people. Different pieces of music that gave this name may sound quite different, some melodic and ethereal and other more rides and more frenetic, but all are generally bland and dramatic. The lyrical component is extremely important. It can be characterized as introspective and depressed and is often complete ghostly films and literary and religious allusions.

It is often difficult to mark certain belts like Goth, because Goths as a group tend to refuse labels. Many bands that strongly influenced the visualEven acoustic elements of aesthetics, including The Cure, Siouxsie and Banshees and Sisters of Mercy, are not identified by the term and often consider it restrictive.

While the Goth subculture is concentrated around music, there are other important elements. Members often excel because of their fashion. Black is the dominant color, although other dark shades such as purple, gray and red blood are also difficult. White, though less commonly visible, can also be a Gothic color, thanks to its dramatic appearance and the evocation of the funeral sheath. Black make-up, nail polish and heavy teased hair are popular for both men and women.

A lot of Goth Fashion, the aesthetics of Gothic literature and music, hears back to another era, especially Victorian and Renaissance styles. Goth is aesthetics rather than ideology, and there is no single religious or political attitude that could be considered typical of culture. The Goths tend to be tolerant of others and concentrate their attention inwards than out. Although they often have a badly well -deserved reputation to be violent or dangerously anti -social, most of them are creative, thoughtful and passive, if pessimistic, individual.
