What is Green Soapstone?

Green soap consists of large deposits of talc, which occur in subduction zones where tectonic boards are wiped. The gradual movement of the pads causes the stone to undergo a chemical change called dynamothermal metamorphism, which again crystallizes the chemical components of the stone, resulting in a combination of talc, chlorite, dolomite and magnesite. Most of the soap used in the United States come from Brazil, but other large deposits were found in Finland. In Virginia, sculptors have been smaller among the sculptors for centuries, yet commercially viable deposits. Soapstone is easily cut and carved by conventional woodworking and brick tools, and when it is polished, it emits a high gloss. The unfinished soap is matt gray and must be polished with mineral oil to bring green color. The soapkeamen stoves have excellent heat retention properties and radiate heat long after the fire is burned. Thanks to the low surface temperature, it makes it a safer alternative to steel and its ability otolat direct flame without cracking or coloring is better than clay or ceramics for use in the fireplace.

Another area of use in which green soap stone is popular for more than 300 years is like the surface of the board. Soon American settlers recognized the density and durability of the soap and incorporated it into the kitchen in many ways, including boards, washbasins and stove inserts. In the green soap plate, there was an alternative to other natural stones such as granite and marble. Unlike the granite, the soap is scratched if they are cut with a knife, but a large scratch can be easily grinded. Soap stone is also available in larger leaves than in other stones, so greater numbertops and surfaces can be covered without unattractive seams.

Green Soapstone also offers the advantage that it is not slippery when it is wet and is considered an environmentally safe non -slip material. Unlike other natural stones, the soap isStone of inert, which means that acidic and alkaline substances will not harm, nor will it be direct heat. Thanks to their softness, experts recommend installing support boards on soap boards with overhangs with more than 10 inches (25.4 cm). The only required maintenance of soap deformation is regular polishing with mineral oil. Polishing not only brings natural color and shine of stone, but also hides small scratches and avoids the wear of deformation.
