What is Lovegrass?
Lovegrass belongs to the Poaceae family. These grasses are known for their gentle, wise appearance. Scientifically known as eragrostis, the genus consists of dozens of different species. Some species may be pointed rather than billows.
Due to the variations by species, Lovegrass has dozens of different shapes, sizes and colors. Some plants are short and pointed, while others have wide, long pointed leaves that grow long and high. The leaves and blades of these species are usually dark green to brown. Crazy varieties that are green at the base and disappear at the ends, fold into a declining or crying, form a fine pattern. Some species grow only slightly from the ground, while others can grow a few feet high.
Lovegrass is considered a very easy growth plant that requires small or no maintenance. Plants produce millions of seeds on a pound, often promoted in many areas. Many varieties prefer full sunlight ammically moist on dry soil or sand clayfor optimal growing conditions.
Planting should be completed in early spring to early summer in well -drained soil. A depth of one quarter of the thumb is recommended for planting grass seed. Fertilizer can be used to increase the size and speed of grass growth if desired. Most of these species are very drought resistant and can be left without water for a long time.
Although some people consider these grass to be ornamental plants, others try to get rid of their property and reject Lovegrass as weed. This decision is largely based on a specific species. For example, crying lovegrass is a very soft plant with thin, decreasing blades that people enjoy as borderline grass. The furry purple lovegrass, which can grow in an unpleasant brown ball, is often considered to be invasive garden weeds.
eragrostis I have use on farms, individual real estate and otherof all areas. Control of erosion is one of the most popular uses of the plant. Some farmers use Lovegrass seeds as feed for their livestock. They can also use it as a form of hay. Birds who nest on the ground often use grass for coverage.
This genus is originally from South Africa. In the 1920s he was brought to North America. In the United States, grass in southwestern and large plains grows broadly, such as the new Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma. You can find it in gravel, Sandy Savanna, prairie and roads.
