What is Moonstone?

Moonstone is a type of feldspar, the most abundant mineral groups in the bark of the Earth. Feldspar is primarily composed of aluminum silicates with traces of other minerals such as sodium and calcium. When the felds are formed with potassium and reaches a translucent, pearl appearance, it is known as a monthly stone. The name comes from the similarity it has for the Moon and these stones were used in jewelry, especially for women, for centuries.

Several parts of the world, including Sri Lanka, have monthly stone deposits. It is classified as orthoclase , which means that it forms around volcanic and hydrothermal deposits and has a translucent appearance along with a glittering shine. Moonstone is a type known as Adularia , the mountain mountains Adula, where the stone is abundantly distributed. Adularia crystallizes at low temperature and when it is of opalescent stone, it is classified as a monthly stone.

When found in harsh monthly stones is not an impressive look. An experienced stone cutter must carry the light appearance of stones that must bet carefully cut. They are usually cut in the form of Cabochon , a rounded and polished section that lacks aspects. Cabochon can take any form, even if there are common tears, round and oval shapes. If it is properly cut, the stone will be glitter and flows and exposes the property called Adulanceresces to the family of the rock from which these stones come from.

All monthly stones have a bluish to white shade, although the basic color of the stone can be clean, white, yellow, orange or gray. They must be treated with caution, because the moon stones are soft and fragile. If they are incorrect, they can easily scratch or break, even if small scratches can be repaired with clarification, which reduces the total size of the stone. Most of the jewelry of Moonstone IS is designed to protect the stone and at the same time show its quality quality and the wearers should make sure they are well seated in their barkTech.

Although it is suitable in men's jewelry, Moonstone appears more often in pieces for women. Large cabochons can be used in necklaces and bracelets, while smaller stones are used in earrings and rings. Moonstone can be gently wiped with a soft cloth and oiled if they lose shine, but the wearers should avoid exposure to excessive light and harsh chemicals and remove jewelry to prevent immersion in the water.
