What is Poly-Wood®?
Poly-Wood® consists of a durable plastic product used to make outdoor furniture made with recycled materials. The process uses milk jugs, bottles for cleaning agents and other discarded plastic containers to create polyethylene leaves with high density (HDPE). These plastic leaves are formed into furniture, as well as wood leaves. Furniture lasts harsh weather, insect damage and corrosion because the moisture does not penetrate poly-wood®.
The material is popular for outdoor terrace furniture because it can be left outdoors all year round. It is not damaged by high humidity and is not susceptible to rot or molds. The product does not crack in the sun and without damage tolerates salt, ice or snow. Manufacturers use stainless steel hardware to strengthen its weather resistant. The latest material pellets are mixed with additives and other compounds than the leaves. The end product consists of 90 % recycled plastic.
ProductsPoly-Wood® includes adirondack chairs, benches and small side tables. There are also dining tables in different sizes and styles and some can be ordered using pillows. Planters and Lounge Chiadere are other Poly-Wood® products that can be purchased. Some come fully assembled while others need a assembly after delivery.
The manufacturer Poly-Wood® began with the idea of hatched two boys from high school in the garage. These teenage Indiana invented a way to make lumber from old plastic milk containers. The company grew when the desire for recycled products came to the forefront to deal with environmental concerns. Poly-Wood® has expanded over the years to international level.
Poly-Wood® is ecologically friendly because it does not require a reduction in trees to produce outdoor furniture. Once this furniture is built, it can be recycled seven times. Reuse of plastoBottles reduce the amount of garbage in landfills and potentially harmful effects on the ground.
The furniture is supplied in six bright colors and several colors of wood, some with the look of the wood. No image is required, as the color fully fills the plastic, but the furniture can fade after a long exposure to the sun. Plastic can withstand stains, even oils.
Poly-Wood® furniture maintenance usually includes wipes with soap and water. A small brush can help remove the dirt from the slots on the wood-zrn styles and between the slats. If the owner decides to disinfect the furniture, the bleach can be used without affecting the color or surface.
